Sydney Vander Tuin is a graduate from the Purdue University Marriage and Family Therapy Master’s program and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. Sydney specializes in individual, adolescent, family, and couples therapy. Her specific areas of focus include anxiety, depression, sexual trauma, trauma, improving communication in relationships, and self-exploration. Sydney is trained in Levels 1 & 2 of Gottman therapy and has received numerous certifications for trainings on treating trauma in therapy.
Sydney uses a collaborative therapeutic approach, as she believes that the client or clients know themselves best. Through collaborating, she strives to assist clients with identifying their needs, as well as providing them with support and resources to get to a place of healing. She aims to create a safe space for people of all genders, race, sexual orientation, and religious affiliation. Sydney believes that everyone has a story that they are entitled to tell and be heard in a secure place. Trauma and other circumstances in life can greatly affect our current behavior and outlook on life, however, Sydney believes that everyone possesses a type of resilience and drive to better themselves.
